Modified Calendar and Process for the FY2020-2021 General Budget for the Town of Guilford as Required by the Governor’s Executive Orders 7B and 7I

April 6, 2020 – Electronic Regular Meeting of the Board of Selectman, to vote to authorize the Board of Finance, as the budget-making authority, to comply with the mandatory requirements of EO7I and adopt a budget and set the mill rate.

April 13, 2020 – Electronic Special Meeting of the Board of Finance, to receive and respond to public comment/concerns regarding the budget as received by the BOF via an email link on the Town website, which email address is townbudget2021@ci.guilford.ct.us, by 3:00pm on Monday April 13, 2020.  The public may continue to submit additional comments/concerns at any time up to 3:00pm on Monday April 20, 2020 prior to the BOF Regular Meeting on April 20, 2020.

April 20, 2020 – Electronic Regular Meeting of the Board of Finance, to receive and respond to public comments/concerns regarding the budget as received by the BOF via an email link on the Town website, which email address is townbudget2021@ci.guilford.ct.us, by 3:00pm on Monday, April 20, 2020, and to vote to adopt the budget and set the mill rate for FY20/21. The Board of Selectmen has asked the Board of Finance to make a decision on the budget by May 5, 2020.

The Board of Finance did not make a decision on the budget at its April 20, 2020 Meeting. It has scheduled a special meeting for April 27 and has extended the email public comment period to 3 p.m. on April 27.

At its April 27 Special Meeting, the Board of Finance voted to reduce the FY2020-2021 Budget a total of $300,000 with $200,000 of reduced from the Board of Education side and $100,000 from the Town side. The Board of Finance is meeting on May 7 to set the mill rate for the upcoming fiscal year.
