Parks Supervisor Anthony Annicelli Receives Employee Recognition Award

First Selectman Matt Hoey has announced that Guilford Parks Supervisor Anthony Annicelli has been named the recipient of the Guilford Employee Recognition Award, for August 2021.

Hoey, who initiated this program, has encouraged all employees to nominate other employees who should be recognized for outstanding achievement and performance in their work.

The Employee Recognition Awards Committee selected Annicelli, who received several nominations. Among those who submitted testimony on his behalf were Parks and Recreation Director Rick Maynard, Recreation Supervisor Ellen Clow, and Maintenance Supervisor Todd Rake.

Maynard, who is Annicelli’s Supervisor, said that “Tony is an outstanding employee who is responsible for 120 acres of town and school property and hundreds of thousands of dollars of equipment, where he takes great pride in doing a terrific job, often working beyond regular work hours.” Rick commented that Tony plans out the weekly work for his crew of 6 employees and 3 seasonal workers on Sunday, “which results in Guilford’s excellent sports fields and parks”.

Clow said that “Anthony holds himself accountable and strives to have fields/facilities in Guilford look very well maintained. I have had the pleasure of being at the fields and hearing people from other Towns comment on how professionally maintained the fields look.”

Rake wrote about how he has worked with Anthony for over 5 years and has seen him overcome many Parks Maintenance challenges. He noted that not only does he “spend his nights preparing schedules, but that he has built strong working relationships with industry experts in ground maintenance products. His success was evident by how well the Guilford Green looked this spring and early summer.”

Annicelli has worked started with the Town of Guilford as Parks Maintainer in July 2004 and was promoted to his present position in January 2014. He received an Employee Recognition Award certificate as well as a gift card from First Selectman Hoey, in recognition of his achievements.
