ESTABLISHED: Established by the Town of Guilford Tree Ordinance adopted by the Board of Selectmen June 21, 1993.
CHARGE/DUTIES: The Tree Advisory Board is charged with assisting the Town Tree Warden in assuring that an appropriate tree or trees and shrub or shrubs are planted in properly designated locations, with serving as the Tree Warden’s assistants on occasions where contractors, public utilities contractors or Town laborers are working in or adjacent to Town trees and with insuring that the intent and provisions of this Tree Ordinance are carried out to the fullest extent possible.
ELECTED/APPOINTED: Board of Selectmen, at June 21, 1993 meeting, authorized the First Selectman to appoint members.
MEMBERSHIP: Town Tree Warden and four other members. The Board of Selectmen, at June 21, 1993 meeting, agreed that the board should be made up of representatives of the Conservation Commission, Guilford Preservation Alliance, Guilford Garden Club and Leetes Island Garden Club.
LENGTH OF TERM: Four-year terms.
MEETING DATE/TIME/PLACE: Meetings are held as necessary.
EXPERIENCE AND/OR INTEREST NECESSARY/PREFERRED TO BE A MEMBER: Members should have a working knowledge of the habitat, planting, growth, care and placing of trees and shrubs.
