First Selectman Matt Hoey announced today that the Town of Guilford Assistant Fire Chief Michael Shove has been named a recipient of the Guilford Employee Recognition Award.
Hoey initiated this program and has encouraged all employees to nominate other employees who should be recognized for outstanding achievement and performance in their work.
The Employee Recognition Awards Committee reviewed multiple applications and selected Shove, who was nominated by Human Resources Administrative Assistant Sally Berezowskyj.
According to Berezowskyj, Assistant Fire Chief Michael Shove has taken it upon himself to implement VEOCI (a new software workflow system) to departments outside of the Fire Department. While working on this process for Town Properties, Information Technology, and Workers’ Compensation Reporting, he has spent considerable time with Human Resources and taking a four-part Personnel Activity Form and moving it on-line via VEOCI. Mike has spent countless hours reviewing the requirements, tweaking the tool, often on his own time, to enable the creation, routing, and electronic sign-offs required to complete the Personnel Activity Form process completely on-line. Berezowskyj concluded that Michael is a tremendous asset to the Town of Guilford and consistently works outside of his job responsibilities to enhance Town services.
Shove, a full-time member of the Fire Department for the past seventeen years, received a framed Employee Recognition Award certificate as well as a gift card from First Selectman Hoey, in recognition of his achievement. It is expected that others will be recognized in similar fashion several times a year as further nominations are received.
